(More customer reviews)The system is a good buy most things considered. Straight bang for the buck it is a nice purchase considering processor, ram, hard drive, etc. I pick this one up as I was in the market and heard good reviews on the radio. Did some research and bought it.
The power light sits on the top of the unit and is annoyingly bright as is the standby power mode when it flashes. I may tape them to dim the light a bit. The usb ports on top are slick and a good idea for ipod like devices. Over all construction seems sound but the face is light grade plastic like so many units these days. Tabs hold it in place as an fyi and one must be very careful or they could break rather easily.
Amazon is great, lightening fast shipping, btw.
The caveat falls in two areas. If you plan on adding another hard drive, I found the space very cramped to slip a 2nd one in. I also had a question for Customer Service about adding a second dvd drive as I felt the pdf manual was lacking. They didn't 'recommend' opening the case. I said that they advertized all of the open slots and should advise how to safely remove the face, etc. so I could add anything I wished. No dice... BUT they were very quick to offer a pay per minute service that started charging as soon as the call was connected (not answered mind you). Either it is recomended or not and I guess only if you pay them.
I advised this wasn't an acceptable answer for a new purchase and was very cheesy. I asked for anything, an email attachment and that I'd accept the risk for any damage, still nothing. I did promise them that I'd have to share in a review and I just fulfilled that promise.
Bottom line, good system if you are ok with no need for customer support and don't plan to upgrade in any way.
