(More customer reviews)I am not yet a computer expert, but this system, at this price is an great buy.
The SX line by Gateway/Acer is a series of awesome cheap computers, but most people seem to discriminate when it comes to the processor, when they all perform pretty equally, and the average computer user would not be able to tell the one, two second differences. It seems as if a lot of people are fans of Intel, and I understand; but overall, compared to the more popular SX2850 and 40, this is better buy. I've read the Tom's Hardware forums and other articles on the Intel I3 vs. AMD Phenom X4 and most people recommed the AMD product. I am pretty sure the the I3 is not quad core while the AMD is. I am not sure if that really makes a big difference, but I'll go with the quad if given the choice. When it comes to the SX2311 and the SX2850 or 40, I think the main difference is that the other two(SX2850 and 40) have either a different processor, or more RAM or SPDIF. I believe that both the 2850 and the 2311 come with wireless N, while the 2840 has the digital optical out, but at least from what I can gather, the 2311 has the best processor but this is just my opinion. I am one who will go with the best processor if possible, because I have no problem opening up my system and adding my own RAM. In the tests in which the 2850 and 40 outperform the 2311 (because there are some test in which the 2311 bests the other two), I am willing to bet that adding RAM will change that.
Now, it seems due to the lack of sells of this system, it is cheaper than the other two. Already, I thought that this was the better computer, but at this price point, I recommed that people really think about buying this one before they jump and follow the band wagon.
